eManifest Support Specialist

BorderConnect is looking for enthusiastic, conscientious people to join our e-manifest/customer support team. The support specialist guides customers through our software, assists with new customer set-up, and processes e-manifests accurately and in a timely fashion. Successful candidates will have intermediate level computer proficiency, detail-oriented, and able to multitask. Successful candidates must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in a professional manner.

Billing Administrator

As Billing Administrator, you will be responsible for administrative and clerical support in the accounting department. This includes accounts receivable, accounts payable, and employee payroll. Your role is to handle all day-to-day tasks for the department to ensure payables and receivables are processed and accurately recorded, payroll is administered, and customer questions and issues with regards to their invoices are addressed. In addition, you will need to pay close attention to detail to catch or prevent mistakes and problems before they are apparent to the customer.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accounts Receivable
    • Record payments (cheques, electronic)
    • Service delinquent accounts
      • Process service suspensions when accounts are past due, and resumptions when they are paid
    • Facilitate refunds
    • Identify and resolve outstanding balances (positive or negative) on customer accounts
  • Accounts Payable
    • Post bills and expenses
    • Be able to recognize problems or inconsistencies with expenses and verify that they are warranted and correct with people or departments that purchased the goods or service
  • Maintain digital files according to department standards (supplier invoice filing)
  • Prepare and process payroll information
  • Communicate with customers, employees and vendors via email and telephone to answer questions, disseminate or explain information, and address complaints
  • Perform intermediate accounting tasks such as matching accounts records to bank statement to prepare for monthly reporting
  • Use various cloud-based programs and services together and understand how they interact with each other
  • Maintain effective and courteous communication with vendors and affiliated companies, serving as a front-line customer service person
  • Complete various duties and tasks as assigned within the time frame requested and using department established methods

  • Basic-level skills with Microsoft Word and Excel:

  • Good grasp on intermediate math concepts such as averages, exchange rates and how they apply
  • Effective and professional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Fluency in speaking, reading and writing in English
  • Able to type accurately
  • Detail oriented
  • Customer service skills:
    • Able to clearly explain how we invoice
    • Able to deal with irate customers appropriately
  • Organizational skills:
    • Able to keep tasks and timelines straight in order to meet deadlines

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Quickbooks Online
  • Typing speed of 30 wpm
  • Accounting-related experience or education
